Baby animal farm

Saturday afternoon we went to Govin's to see the baby animals. It's a farm by Menomonie that is best known for its strawberries and meat. But in the spring, for 3 weekends, they have their barn open to see the baby lambs, chicks and piglets. We had never gone before, but I don't know why! It was so fun and the girls absolutely loved it. I wasn't sure how Jocey was going to react, but I think because they were so small she was okay. She didn't love the horses, but did pet them as long as they were eating and she didn't have to touch their faces. The girls and I went with Anita; Calvin had to work. He was so bummed that he missed it that I think he and I and Jocey are going to go again on Sunday!

It was beautiful on Saturday - we played outside most of the morning!

Yum - chalk Ginger was keeping a watchful eye on that cracker...she finally grabbed it when Jocelyn turned her head. She cried and cried - she was so sad and just didn't understand why Ginger would do that to her! So we worked on saying "No, no, Ginger, that's mine!" She's pretty good at it now - but sounds like "No, no, ma!"

Here are the farm pictures! Kailee loves horses!

These piglets were so funny! Hardly any of them could find a nipple - they just kept ramming their heads into the momma!

Amazingly all the chicks survived - she only tried to pull the leg off of one.

This lamb had it's eye poked, but seemed to come out okay.

She loved the puppies!
Giving the puppy a hug thru the fence
This puppy nipped her finger - she cried and cried - she's very sensitive and gets her feelings hurt very easily. I don't think it hurt - she's pretty tough that way.

Back home after a fun day! She loves to carry around a purse - puts her keys in it and says 'bye-bye!'

Giggles

I'm sure I've said it before, but Kailee can get Jocelyn to laugh like no one else can. Tonight I was getting Jocey ready for bed, and Kailee kept running in and out of the room; sending her into hysterics. Of course, Kailee loves that, so she kept doing it. Then she wanted us to go out of the room so she could hide under the crib. This video is the second time Kailee hid - she picked a different spot, but Jocey still thought she would be under the crib. I love her laugh; you can't help but laugh along! It's kinda dark - sorry - but all you really need to do is listen!

Spring is here?!

Yes, yes, I know I've been really horrible about posting pictures for the last month! But we haven't taken any pictures! Jocelyn got sick again - this time it was bronchitis and the start of an ear infection. I was glad to finally get some drugs in her! It was a long winter - she's like a whole new girl now that she's feeling better. I had a sinus infection, so I got drugs too, and we've been healthy for about 2 weeks now. Calvin stayed healthy the whole time, but now woke up on Friday with a sore throat and has spent most of the last 3 days on the couch. And it was his birthday Thursday. Sad. Hopefully it won't take him a month to get better!

Jocelyn is learning more words - she now knows bye-bye, ball, baby, hi, no, again, yes. She still won't call either of us by name, but does know how to say them. She's a stubborn one! It takes us a while to eat dinner now - she insists on using a fork and will sit there until she gets it. She's getting pretty good! She is learning new dance moves all the time and loves to sing - we get to sing songs over and over and over again!

Here are some pictures from today. It was gorgeous out - 57 degrees! I was so excited to get out and enjoy the day - I'm afraid I now have spring fever and it will probably snow next week.

Playing with Susie - she's really into pretending now.

Pretending to sleep - she loves to be covered up over and over and over again...

Talking on the phone - she was really going to town! It was so funny. She would say hi and then jabber, but was doing hand gestures with it!

She's starting to play with her animals like we play with her. She'll make them give kisses, she'll give them her water cup and her pacifier. Cute!

She loves her puppy! She'll pull it around our living room/dining room/kitchen circle and walking backwards is way more fun than walking forwards!

This is her sign for 'where did it go?' She does it while shaking her head. It's my favorite thing she does.

She has a toy - Holly Holstein - who has an ice cream truck. We walk animals over to Holly for some ice cream - she says 'num-num.' She was using all her puzzle pieces as animals!

Having a snack

Yeah - our first walk without snowpants this year!

We went to the park - there were two other kids there that she just wanted to follow around. She threw an absolute fit when we left - she did not want to get back in the stroller!

We continued on our walk and I let her get out to look at the river - she really liked that. I think we could have sat there for hours!

I let her walk around the bridge by herself - she thought she was pretty hot stuff!

Back home - we got out her swing, but she didn't like it as much as at the playground. What a fun day we had!

15 Months

We had Jocelyn's 15 month appointment on Friday. She got 3 shots and does not like the doctor touching her. Overall, not the highlight of her week! She's growing wonderfully; she weighs 23 lbs, 12 oz and is 30.75". As if she knew it was time to start doing this - she has begun to not want to eat! The doctor asked if she had had days where she wouldn't eat - and she just had started last week. She won't eat nothing all day, but really doesn't eat much and is very particular about what she'll eat. Even her favorite things she's deciding she doesn't want any more. The doctor said it's perfectly normal, and they even out when they have days they eat a whole bunch. Just part of becoming an independent person! She's been really tired and crabby since Friday, so I hope it's just because of the shots and not because she's getting another cold! Winter can't be over soon enough!

Winter Fun

We had a fun day on Monday playing outside in the snow! Jocelyn LOVES going outside, and will walk over to her boots, hats & mittens and bring them to me. She doesn't mind wearing her mittens anymore...she even likes to wear them around the house!

The kids were off school for President's Day, and Mom & Dad were over for a visit. We went sledding (Cal, Kailee and Jocelyn) at a little hill by our house. Jocelyn likes to be pulled in the sled - we couldn't even see her face!

I didn't get any good pictures of them going down the hill. It was pretty bumpy - almost like moguls! I think Calvin's butt still hurts today!

She will go down the slide as many times as someone will put her back up there! It's kinda hard to move with all that winter gear on! I'm really looking forward to summer - I think we'll have a fun time being outside and playing.

Here she is going down - with a little coaxing. I think she was distracted.

Painting

Saturday I had Jocelyn do a Valentine's Day painting project. There's a reason we leave the painting to day care! I started out making a potato stamper, but didn't make the heart flat enough, so it just looked like a pink blob. Then I cut a heart out of a sponge, and that worked better. She likes to squish everything, so she did good at pushing the sponge down good and hard. Then we used a brush and that's when the mess started. She wanted to chew on the brush, which led to paint in the mouth, on her face, on my face, and the table. Everywhere but the paper. :) But she had a blast until it was time to get cleaned up. Luckily the paint comes off with just water, so it wasn't too bad. I think we'll wait a few more months to do that again - hopefully she'll be mostly over putting stuff in her mouth by then!

First Word

Jocelyn has said her first word! It is 'bye-bye'. We went to Mom and Dad's for the weekend, and she was playing with the pop-up toy - where you push the button, move the switch, etc. and the charcter pops up. She would push it down, then Mom would say 'bye-bye' and wave. Then she'd push the button, it would pop up, and the cycle would start again. About half way thru she started to say 'ba-ba' when she waved. I wasn't convinced she really knew what she was saying though, until we left. Then I told her to say goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa, and she said it again while she waved. Yeah!

Now, I should say that she has said words before - she says 'mama', the 'p' sound for Grandpa/Bumpa and 'no'. But she's never said it at the right time or unprompted. We're looking forward to this new stage - I love all the funny things kids say!
