Kavanaugh Christmas

This year we were able to spend a lot of time with our families, which was so wonderful.  We started out on Friday hanging out over at Pat and Anita's.  It was great spending time with everyone, especially Elliot and Henry!  They are 8 and 9 months, and what a fun age.  I'm so thankful they live so close and we get to see them so often.

Beggin' dogs - awful.  Henry practicing his walking - he's almost got it!

Henry playing with Jocelyn's skirt - she did a great job playing nice with her cousins.

Christmas Eve we all went to church and they all did great!  Jocelyn actually had to go out because she started crying - no nap does not make a cooperative girl!

 Precious cousins
After church the boys opened their presents - Calvin had to work, so Jocelyn had to wait until he got home.  She got to help them though, so she was fine!

Mary is rescuing Baby Jesus from the top of the fire truck....

We got home about 10:00, and she fell asleep on the way home.  She even stayed asleep when we got in the house!  We had to wake her up to put out cookies and milk for Santa though.

I had to drag her out of bed at 8:00 on Christmas morning - that's probably the last year that will happen!  She was glad to see Santa had brought her the green and purple nail polish she asked for, and some new patchys as well.

Yep - he ate all the cookies and drank all the milk!
Kailee came over on Christmas Day morning, and got to open her presents then.

Babies in a box - how fun!
Jocelyn did my nails all by herself!  She was quite proud.
Calvin also had to work on Christmas Day, so when he went to work, Jocelyn and I headed over to my parents' house.  He and Kailee came over on Monday morning.

Our Christmas

Christmas this year was even more fun than last year, probably because Jocelyn gets it now, and was very excited for everything Christmas means!  We had fun decorating, making cookies, wrapping presents, doing the advent calendar, singing Christmas songs, reading Christmas books and watching Christmas movies.

Jocelyn had her daycare Christmas party the week before Christmas.  They really did a nice job, had lots of fun activities for the kids to do, and Santa was there!  We've never taken her to see Santa before, because she would have been terrified.  But we talked it up this year, and while she didn't want to see Santa at the mall, she was okay with seeing him at day care.

Proof that she acutally sat on his lap!  We were so proud of her - she talked to him, told him what she wanted (green and purple nail polish, which he did manage to find in time!), and gave him a hug when she was done.

We've started a tradition of opening our family presents the Wednesday before Christmas when Kailee is with us.  It seems like Christmas Eve and Day are always so busy that it's nice to have just a quiet night opening our gifts and celebrating together.

Modeling all the clothes she got at once....
My present from Calvin and the girls was a new camera!  I was so excited - I've been wanting a new one for a while, even more so after I took Adam & Angie's with us to Montana this summer.  He got the same one as they have, which was great, because I already sort of know how to use it.  I was so glad to have it for Christmas, and have already taken a bizillion pictures.  Here are the first few testing it out....

New Year, New Look

Happy New Year!  We had a great 2011 - went way too fast - and we're looking forward to a great 2012 as well.  I decided the blog needed a new look - it's been the same for over 3 years and I was ready for a change!  Maybe it will inspire me to blog more often....  Here are some random pictures from last month before I get into all our fun Christmas pictures!

Dressing up is so much fun!  Even Ellie got to participate in the fun!

Jocelyn doesn't really finger paint - she body paints.

Just when I'm about ready to strangle the dogs, they go and do something cute and nice like this.  Ellie laid on that pillow under the blankets for at least 15 minutes while Jocelyn read her books.
Jocelyn loves to draw and color - she's getting really good at drawing actual pictures and staying in the lines.
Oh yes, we took down her crib last month too.  She was just getting too big for it.  She has a nice new twin bed (still have to buy a box spring) that she loves.  It was fun rearranging her room and making it look like a big girl room.  I'll take pictures once we have everything done.  This is how I found her the other day after not napping - undies on outside her pants, different socks on (one inside out) and shoes!  At least she kept herself occupied!
