Snow Day #2

Well, it snowed again today, and man, did it snow!  I was just saying the other day that we never get the bad storms here - it always goes north or south of us.  Well, our time has come.  The news tonight said we got 14" in Eau Claire!  It did not stop all day long.  It wasn't too windy or cold this morning, so we got out and played while we could.  It was really fun, and we were out for about an hour.  It's really windy and cold now, so I'm glad we went when we did!  Calvin had to work, but us girls stayed home all day - baking, doing laundry and playing.  We live on a corner, and we got to watch a lot of people get stuck!  They should have stayed home too.  A lot of stuff has been cancelled for tomorrow too - even church!  Good thing - I think it'll take us most of the morning to get shoveled out.  Cal's dad came over with the snow blower which was great, and Kailee and I shoveled one other time other than this morning, but we still have a lot out there!  I'll take some more pictures tomorrow to see how much we ended up getting.

Snow Day #1

Yesterday was a beautiful day!  It wasn't too cold, the sun was out, and there was fresh snow to play in.  We had to take advantage - it's going to get VERY cold next week and we won't even want to leave the house.  Here are some pictures of Jocelyn playing in the snow - she loves to be outside and threw a major fit when we had to come in.

Christmas Carols

Jocelyn loves to sing, and lately we've been singing Christmas songs.  Her favorite is Santa Claus is Coming to Town.  We sing it all the time!  Here's a cute little video of her singing it - but you do have to listen to my singing too (sorry)! :)

Christmas Round 1

We decided to do Christmas gifts while everyone was home at Thanksgiving.  I kinda liked it - I'm almost done with my shopping now! 

Kailee got a lot of nice art/craft stuff - she could spend all day doing that kind of thing, so it was perfect.  She also got a puzzle that we started to put together yesterday...it was really hard!  I finally finished it (by myself - she wasn't here) tonight.

Jocelyn is a very good present opener!

 Calvin asked me on Monday when we talked if I minded if he went and got a Christmas tree without us.  Reason being is that if we waited until our next Kailee weekend it would be two weeks before Christmas, and then I wouldn't have put one up at all.  So of course I said yes!  Well, he totally surprised me by buying the tree, putting lights on it, and decorating the entire house!  I was so excited when we got home on Tuesday.  I don't know why, I just wasn't looking forward to doing it this year.  We did wait until Wednesday to put the ornaments on the tree so Kailee was here too.  Jocey actually put ornaments on, and every time she got one to stay she'd say 'yeah!' 

 This is where Jocelyn stood and put all her ornaments up.  Can you tell?  So far she's done good at leaving them on the tree - she likes to touch them and turn the ones on and off that make noise/have lights, but so far nothing has gotten too far away from the tree.  I think Ellie's tail is worse than anything Jocelyn could do!

I think our Christmas season will be celebrated in many different rounds, which is always a fun way to do it.  I'm excited to do some baking next weekend and maybe even finish up the last of our shopping - then it's on to wrapping!  I think not having to decorate the house made me more excited for everything else.  What a lucky girl I am!

Bergner Party

While everyone was home, we also had a birthday party for Jocelyn.  She had fun opening her presents, and I'm pretty sure thinks presents just arrive all the time since we did our Christmas at Thanksgiving too!  The day after she kept asking for more presents.  I don't think she even cares about the stuff inside as much as she likes opening the packages.

 Opening an Elmo movie from Grandma and Grandpa.  I have two of the songs from this DVD continuously stuck in my head.  Awesome.

 I decided that since we had all the pie from Thanksgiving and two other desserts, she didn't need a cake.  So we stuck two candles in an ice cream sandwich!  She thought that was great.  She did much better blowing out her candles this time around and for some reason insisted on eating her ice cream without utensils or her hands!

 

Vacation Part 2

The second part of our vacation (and my favorite part - sorry Cor - babies are just cuter) was going to Mom and Dad's for Thanksgiving...where I finally got to meet my nephew!  I had to wait 7 whole weeks, and it was so hard to wait.  It was SO much fun getting to be with him (and everyone else too).  Brian and Katie came down on Tuesday - a day early with all the snow they were predicting.  Calvin and I got back Wednesday night, but then he continued on to Eau Claire.  Katie, Jonathan and Abel came on Thursday.  Calvin and Kailee came on Friday.  We had a great time together and hardly left the house!  Those are the best weekends.  I did venture out on Black Friday with Brian and Katie, but not until about 8:00.  They still had the things I wanted at Target, so I'm very glad we didn't get up at 4:00!  We had our Thanksgiving meal on Friday and it was delicious as always.  Brian, Katie, Calvin and Kailee headed home on Sunday, but Jocelyn and I stayed until Tuesday, and Katie, Jonathan and Abel went home on Wednesday.  I think Jocey was glad to get home - 10 days away from home was a lot for her!  But she still talks about Abel and wanting to go back to Grandpa's house, so I know she had a great time.

 Jocelyn did really well with Abel.  We were all a bit nervous - she's been yelling 'My Namna!' (Grandma) for about 2 months now.  And she said 'no' when we asked if we could hold the baby.  But, she surprised me by being wonderful with him.  She brought Katie his pacifier and burp rag all the time, and wanted to watch him eat and get his diaper changed.  I think once she realized he wasn't going to take any of her toys, she was fine.  She did freak out a little when we were eating dinner and Kailee was playing with him.  She started shaking and crying, saying 'My Ki-ki!' (Kailee).

 She made sure everyone knew they were her toys, and she was being nice and letting him share.

 The little glider chair plays music, and when Twinkle Twinkle came on she was showing him how to do the hand motions. 

 Monday we went to the zoo.  It was fairly nice out, but we stuck to the inside exhibits as it was raining!  Abel wasn't too impressed by the animals.

We really had a great time, and I don't know how I'm going to wait until this summer to see that baby again.  It's a good thing for Skype - what did people do without it?
