Happy Birthday Kailee!

Today Kailee turned 9! I can't even believe it - 9 seems like a big grown up age. We had Anita over for dinner, cake and presents. She got some nice new clothes, although most of them we need to take back for bigger sizes! I guess I haven't bought her clothes since we went school shopping, and she's grown a lot since then. She's up to my chin, and will probably surpass me soon. She lost the last 2 of her baby teeth this week, and the tooth fairy forgot to come for her last tooth (she thought she was probably just too busy....). She's so grown up and is such a sweet girl. We're very proud of what a wonderful young lady she's becoming!

She only blew out one candle on her first try - 8 boyfriends is a lot!

Calvin was making us laugh about something - we got the giggles and couldn't stop!

She loves being a big sister!

Doctor's appointment

The doctor's appointment went well today. She weighs 15 lbs., 11oz. and is 24 inches. Her weight is in the 95th percentile, and her height is in the 25th percentile. Poor girl. :) She did really great with her shots - she only cried for about a minute and has been happy the rest of the day. She just went down for a nap, and was bawling her head off so she had some Tylenol and hopefully will sleep for a while now. Poor little legs!

There's nothing wrong with her ears, and the doctor doesn't think she's cutting teeth yet, so we just have to let her cry herself back to sleep at night. Sad. It's probably worse for us than it is for her. I did a practice run last night to see how she would do, and she was up 5 times, but only 2 times to eat, and the other times she put herself back to sleep within 5 minutes. So, I guess I'll just be tired for a while, at least on my 4 days off. I may use the car seat on the nights I work, but maybe she'll just need 4 days and will have it down! Wishful thinking, I'm sure. I think we'll start food in about a month or so - she suggested starting around 5 months so she has a while to get used to eating before 6 months when breastmilk isn't enough anymore. She said she's growing just fine on just milk though, so it's really up to us when we want to start her. We're so thankful she's such a happy, healthy and growing little girl!

I love toys!

Jocelyn has discovered toys! Yeah! She loves to hold them, put them in her mouth and listen to the fun sounds they make. I don't know if she's starting to teeth or not, but she really likes to chew on them, but can't quite figure out how to keep them in her mouth. She has her dad's patience level, so it's been a frustrating few days. :) Oh - the doctor was sick on Friday, so we had to reschedule her appointment to next Friday. Until then, she's sleeping in her car seat! It was such a nice day out today, we took the dogs to the dog park, which was a muddy mess, and played outside for a little while. She sat in her Exersaucer and watched Ellie and I play fetch - she loved watching her run around.

Ellie loves to come and lay by us when we're playing on the floor. This picture wasn't even posed. Ellie can't wait until Jocelyn's old enough to throw the ball for her!

Bathroom progress

It all started about 4 months ago when Dad asked if we'd like their old vanity from the downstairs bathroom to put in our upstairs bathroom (ours was pretty small). Sure! Sounds like an easy project. Well, of course, it turned into ripping out the floor, the wall board, moving the heating vent, re-insulating, re-drywalling, tiling, texturing the walls...you get the picture. So, this has been a very long project as time is limited with a new baby and a new job for Calvin. It's finally getting to where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! One of Calvin's friends has been doing a lot of the cosmetic work, and finished the floor and the walls yesterday. Last night Calvin and I primed and painted the walls, so now we just need to get the trim back up, the medicine cabinet, toilet and vanity back in and it'll be done! So, here's some pictures of the wall color and floor. I don't think I have any pictures of what it looked like before, but it's a huge improvement.

4 Months

Here we are at 4 months, and for today, I'm wishing she was older. I know, that's an awful thing to do, since I realize she'll be big soon and I'll want her to be little again. However, for almost a week now she's gone back to waking up every 2 hours to eat or just be snuggled. But, it's hard for her to fall back into a deep sleep without eating. Yikes. I'm so tired! She slept in her car seat last night and slept about 5 hours straight. I am seriously contemplating letting her sleep in there every night! We go to the doctor on Friday for her check up, so we'll see what she has to say. Daycare said she's having a hard time sleeping there too. Maybe she has some fluid in her ears from her cold. Who knows.

Despite getting no sleep, she's still a happy baby, and is so smiley and fun. She loves her Exersaucer and is having fun learning how to hold and put toys in her mouth. Her neck is strong and she hates to lay down - that's way too boring! You can't really tell in these pictures, but she has this funny patch of hair on the side of her head that I want to cut. It looks like an old man comb over but on the side. Hopefully it falls out! We really didn't do much this month since we were all sick. I'm better now, she still has a bit of a stuffy nose when she wakes up though. We're looking forward to spring and being able to take the dogs for lots of walks. I'll post an update Friday after the doctor with her weight and maybe a solution to our sleeping problem!
