Funny girl

Tonight after dinner we were sitting out in the living room and Jocelyn was reading a book.  She has an Arthur lift-the-flap book about his baby sister.  There's one page that has the baby sitting there and you lift the flaps to see the things she likes to do.  So she's looking at it nice; Calvin and I are talking on the couch.  She comes over to us and wants her shoes off.  This is odd, because she loves wearing her shoes.  So Calvin takes them off, and she sticks her toes in her mouth!  Well, the one picture of the baby shows the baby sucking on her toes when you lift the flap!  She's done it before, but I guess has always had her shoes off.  And I guess you can't suck on your toes with your shoes on.  What a funny girl!

Poop

So, ever since Jocelyn pooped in the bathtub a few months ago, she's been scared of poop.  I got some bathtub crayons because she wouldn't sit down in the tub anymore!  That worked, and she's fine with baths again.  But she's obsessed with talking about the dog poop!  Every time we go outside, that's the first thing she says.  We watched a friend's little boy last week and when they were dropping him off (we were out in the backyard), she just kept saying poop!  And it's not like there's a lot of it laying around - we pick it up pretty much every day.  So, here's a little video of her being scared of the poop tonight.  I tried not to traumatize her too much. :)

Boat ride

Last night we went for a boat ride with Calvin's parents.  What a beautiful night for a boat ride!  It was so nice out, and we had a great time hanging out and relaxing.  Jocelyn had fun eating snacks and laughing at the dogs.  Yes, we brought the dogs.  I always think it's a good idea to bring them places because they need a little action in their lives, but then when we get there I remember why we don't bring them anywhere.  Actually, Ellie would be fine, it's just Ginger.  I think we need to get her anti-anxiety pills.  She just whines the whole time and is annoying!

Getting ready to go - having a little snack

Having another snack - she did such a nice job of sharing with Bumpa!  (and the dogs - although not on purpose)

Ellie was so embarrased to wear the life jacket!  We didn't keep it on very long, but she should have kept it on - she wanted to jump in every chance she got!

We let her get in, and threw Ginger in.  Ellie swam a few laps around the boat, then they both went up on land and wouldn't get back in!  Luckily they eventually did - Calvin wouldn't have been impressed if he would have had to go in after them!

Here's a little video of Ellie - she likes to bite water - it's really funny to watch with the hose at home.  She was so excited about it she was whining - I don't think I've ever heard her whine before!  You can see why she should have had her life jacket on!

Sprinkler

I feel like we've had the air on all summer - it's been a hot one!  But that's good, since we got a pool pass this year!  We've gone quite a bit, and Jocelyn really likes going.  Saturday I took her down the waterslide - I'd been too nervous to go down with her, but she keeps asking, so I finally caved.  She had a blast!  The second time I slipped getting off and we both went under.  I was worried that'd be the end of her waterslide career, but we got out and she said 'more!'  That girl is such a dare devil.  Anyway, Friday we didn't go to the pool, but the girls had fun in the sprinkler and the kiddie pool.  So did Ellie!

River

We don't normally do much at night - most of our outings happen during the day.  But last Monday we ventured out - went to the library, got something to eat, and then went to a playground!  The playground is by the river, and after a while we went down to the water to check it out.  I should just learn to keep a towel and set of dry clothes in the car - Jocey loves to get in the water every chance she can!  The river was pretty calm - it was before we got all the rain, so she and Calvin had fun throwing rocks and checking out the ducks.  It was a beautiful night, and we really had a good time!

This is my new favorite picture of her....
She ended up going all the way in - had to ride home in just her diaper!

NW State Fair

This weekend Mom and Dad came over for the weekend for a visit. They came on Friday, so Calvin and I went out to a movie, dinner and drinks. Saturday we went to the Northern Wisconsin State Fair. We had fun looking at the animals, eating fair food and going on a few rides. They stayed until today, and Jocelyn had so much fun playing with 'Namna' and 'Papa'.

The first barn we went into was the sheep. I thought she'd love them, but they were baaing too loud, so she was scared and wouldn't pet them.
The cow barn was better - she liked them.

Then we went to the feeding barn - she absolutely loved it. The first thing we saw were tiny baby goats - she laughed and laughed at them. She probably would have stayed there all day feeding all the animals!

She had fun riding the carousel and we also went down the big slide. That one she wanted to do again, and didn't understand why you only got one turn down the slide!

The last thing we did was have her ride the ponies. She was very hesitant to get on, but once they started moving she liked it.
Balloons sure are fun!
Here's a little video of her dancing at the fair - one of the midway rides had music playing and she just started dancing!
Eating raspberries from Grandma and Grandpa's bushes - they polished off the whole bucket! She just kept shoving them in her mouth.
Eating ice cream sandwiches with Grandma - this turned into quite the mess!

Ice cream cone

Jocelyn had her first ice cream cone tonight! She's had ice cream, but never in a cone. She thought it was the greatest thing she'd ever seen! She did really well with it and didn't squish it until she was almost done.

Garden

Our garden is coming along great - it seems to have exploded while we were away!
The fence is about 6 feet - the sunflowers will be taller than it any day!

Lettuce - our first crop
Peas - our second crop

Look at that cute little pea pod! They're so good - next year I'm planting more of those.

Jocey loves them too!
Tiny beans - they're not quite ready yet.
The zucchini are going wild - we planted way too many of those.

4th of July at the Cabin

We're back! We got the camera back just in time - Thursday morning before we left for the cabin. But, now it's not working again. Well, it works, but is having some of the same issues it started out having before it broke completely. So we have to call again - I really missed not having it though.

Anyway...we had a wonderful vacation at the cabin yet again this year. It's something we look forward to all summer. I was sick the week before, so we didn't get up there as soon as we were planning, but still made it on Thursday. Everyone was there Thursday night except for Morgan and Nicole - they had the practice bar exam, so they came up Saturday morning. Friday and Saturday were beautiful - we got in lots of swimming time! There were a ton of mosquitos at night, so we didn't do a fire or anything. Kailee had about 20 bites on one leg! Sunday it rained all day. I don't think we've ever had a day like that before. We still went to the parade, but that was all for outside. Sunday was really hot and muggy; we left around noon so the girls were able to swim in the morning. We're so thankful to the Deda's for letting us stay there every year. We have such wonderful memories, and I look forward to Kailee and Jocelyn making even more memories!
Each little kid gets their own sign above the playhouse door. So cute and nice!

Cory with the snapper he and Calvin caught

One day she was down by the water and I wasn't going to have her swim, but she really wanted to, so it was in with her diaper and nothing else!
Daddy and his girls waking up in the camper

So the four of us went for a canoe ride. We're about 2 minutes out, and Calvin looks back towards shore, and here come Ellie and Ginger, swimming out to us. Ginger despises water, so she must have been pretty sure we were going to leave her there forever! Dumb dogs. Ellie turned around when we did, but Ginger kept coming. Cory had to pull her into his kayak and bring her back to shore.

Playing stickers with Uncle Cory
Kailee's fish
Jocelyn had fun playing with the playhouse toys - we found some antiques - toys we had when we were little!

Auntie Angie and Nettie
The boys playing cribbage
This is one of her favorite books, and she's been loving sunglasses lately too!

Watching the parade from the shelter of the doorway
Ama and her girls
Eating her first piece of parade candy

I hope the candy is worth it!

Getting our yearly foot massage!
All the fireworks that were set off on the 4th. Two of the six dogs HATE fireworks, and Ellie is one of them. She sat in the shower the whole time they were setting them off. Poor thing.
Kailee and Lexi

Running after the dogs
Swimming on the last day - she got braver and braver - she just started walking out until she couldn't touch anymore! All by herself!
Pat relaxing on the water
I didn't have any group pictures taken with my camera, so I'll get them from someone else and post them later.
