Kavanaugh Party

We had Jocelyn's party with the Kavanaughs on Sunday.  It was almost a sad party - we weren't sure if Morgan & Nicole or Adam & Angie were going to make it because of all the snow in MN!  But by Sunday it had cleared up and they all made the trip over.  Jocelyn had a blast!

She did great opening presents, and was okay with not opening everything until all the presents were unwrapped.
Opening the Fisher Price garage from Mommy and Daddy

An SUV from Moe-moe and Cole
Carla - the bath time baby from Ama and Bumpa
Opening puzzle blocks from Adam and Angie
Opening the shopping cart from Kailee - I think this one was her favorite!

She was so funny hauling it around - forget pushing - she wanted to carry it!

I love making cakes!  I think my next one I might try fondant.  We'll see.
 Showing off her two fingers

She wasn't too sure about blowing out the candles...

She wanted the nose piece.  I don't think orange frosting will come out of my white tablecloth....
She loves pattern socks.  She has Abby socks (Sesame Street) that she would wear every day if I let her.  Now she has some kitty socks from Ama!

Party hats are even fun the day after the party!
Thanks everyone for coming, and for all the very nice presents for Jocelyn.  She has had a great few days playing with all her new toys.

Lazy Day

Like I said, Saturday was an icky day outside.  We didn't have a car - it had a flat tire and then the spare went flat too - so Calvin just took the truck to work.  I had to get the house clean for the party on Sunday, so we stayed in our jammies and just bummed around.  I love those days!

However, about 4:00 Jocey started getting really antsy, and didn't want to do anything I suggested.  So I had Kailee go up and get out the baby doll bin - I'd been holding out on showing that to her.  I'm glad I waited - it kept them occupied the rest of the night!

Ellie was really glad we got it out too!

Presents

Jocelyn is learning that presents are fun!  It's kinda hard with her birthday being so close to Christmas - she doesn't get time to practice throughout the year.  We're spreading her birthday out this year though, so maybe she'll get the hang of it....

Opening her present from Great Grandma.  She thought there had to be something better than clothes in that big bag!
 Books!  She loves books!
This candle, however, was by far the crowd favorite.  It's a battery operated candle and she loves it.  It sits on her kitchen set and she's figured out how to turn it off and on.  We even had to eat by candle light one night!

Trying on her coat from Great Grandma - it'll fit in a few years.  Thanks for all the great presents!
Reading her card from Great Aunt Mary Jo and Great Uncle Tom.  She really likes cards and pretends to read each one.
 Another book!  Yeah!
Saturday was a very icky day - we got some snow, but it mostly just rained.  Mom and Dad got 8 inches over in the Cities!  So, we were a little stir crazy.  I let her open one of her presents from my friend Megan so she didn't drive me bonkers.

Great present Megan (I even let her mix the colors)!  She didn't want Kailee to play with her and told her to go play in the living room.  We still have to work on the sharing thing.

Two!

My precious girl turned two this week!  I can hardly even believe it - I think this year went faster than the first did.  We didn't do anything on her actual birthday, except sing happy birthday all the way to Ama's house!  And she knows she's two now and can hold up two fingers by herself.  When I picked her up at daycare on Tuesday, her teacher said she was holding up two fingers and saying "peace out".  I thought she'd been saying "please help"!  But yep, indeed, she does say peace out.  One of her other teachers taught her to say it.  Cute!  We're having a party this weekend with Calvin's side, and we'll do another party at Thanksgiving with my side.  I say you should always stretch a birthday out as long as possible!

We had her 2 year check up today, and the doctor says she's perfect!  Growing nicely - 27 lbs. and 34.5 inches.  She did get two shots, so now her legs hurt.  Poor thing.  And she had to have blood drawn for the lead test - which they just prick her finger and then squeeze out the blood!  She did great though - last year she screamed the whole time - this year she just sat and watched.

She's talking more and more every day, and just moved up to the 2 year old room at day care, so I'm sure she'll talk even more now!  They start potty training with them - a sticker each time they try, and an M&M if they go.  I think it'll just take one M&M before she wants to go all the time!  They have the cute little pottys that look like regular ones.  I guess she's still a little unsure of them, but did try twice last week.  That will be wonderful to get her out of diapers!
