Cabin 2014

Our annual 4th of July cabin trip was so awesome!  The past 2 years have been SO hot that all we've been able to do is swim and sweat.  This year was cooler and gorgeous.  I was a bit worried the mosquitoes would be awful, but they really weren't too bad.  It got cool enough at night that they went away, and it was breezy enough during the day that they weren't bad then either.  We did get some swimming in, although I only went once, and had fun doing arts & crafts, playing with the train track, reading books and just hanging out.

There were these little moths all around, and Jocelyn had fun catching them all weekend.  She also found a slug.  This girl loves her bugs and gross things!
Cory and Calvin did a lot of fishing - they each caught over 30 fish!  One night they did keep a few for us to eat, but mostly just threw them back.  It was Cory's first trip in 3 years!
Ellie had a blast as always!

The loons were really close and really talkative.  I love the sound they make.

A few weekends before the cabin, Adam, Angie, Pat & Anita were up in Grand Marais.  The boys took a bread making class, and they were excited to show off their skills!  They made it on the grill, and it was so good.  Who doesn't love a slice of warm homemade bread?!

Getting up at 5:00 to go fishing is hard work!
 Angie made this beauty banner!
We went to the parade again this year...it's always so hot there!
The kids had fun getting candy and running away from the floats that squirted water.

We normally do family pictures on the last day, but since we were all so (not on purpose) festive, we had to get a picture on the 4th!  I wasn't even trying to get the dogs in the picture, but Ellie seems to know when we're having a nice picture and likes to pose with us.

Bumpa was such a great sport and took the kids swimming a lot.  The lake was pretty shallow, which is nice for the little ones.

Elliot also found this caterpillar on his walk!  He'll have fun watching that one hatch!
This old stump has been out front of the cabin forever.  But it was all rotten inside, so the kids knocked it over and had fun hauling all the soft wood.

The kids did sparklers and those little pop rock things for their fireworks this year.  I was helping out, so no pics of them, but Kailee decided she wanted in on the action too.

I just noticed that they're all sitting in the right order of their names!  And it wasn't even planned.  That's amazing!
Look how big those grandbabies are getting!
The big family picture is on Adam & Angie's camera, so I'll get that later.  We're so thankful we have such good friends in the Deda's and get to enjoy the beautiful cabin every year, eat delicious food, and spend time together.
