Big Girl

Here are some new pictures of our big girl.

She's getting so good at sitting - unless she turns her head to see what's going on behind her, she can sit for a long time! She can even grab toys and play with them, but her feet are her favorite thing to grab at while she's sitting.

She can now feed herself!

I was trying to get a picture of her tooth - she thought it was pretty funny to stick her fingers in her mouth instead....

So I finally had to hold her mouth open! See the tiny tip of the tooth? I think the one next to it is coming in - although no diaper rash or crabbiness yet.

Baptism

Today was Jocelyn's baptism! It was a very special day, and we had a very nice time. She did great, and didn't even fuss at the water on her head! Mom made her dress, which was so special and pretty. My sister, Katie and her husband, Jonathan are her Godparents, but since they live in Boston, they couldn't be here. So, we Skyped them in! We had a private ceremony after church (that's how they had Kailee baptized, and Calvin really liked doing it that way), so it worked out great! We had a lunch after at Pat & Anita's and she wouldn't nap because she didn't want to miss out on her party! We'll have a tired girl tonight, I think. Maybe she'll sleep thru the night again!

We had to get a picture with the cute hat - she looks Amish!

A friend of mine made her the braclet - she had to add a few pearls as her wrists are a little chubby....

All sorts of new things

Jocelyn has been a busy girl lately! On Thursday, she got her first tooth! I noticed it while she was eating. :) She didn't bite, but was just gumming more than usual. So I felt in her mouth, and sure enough, there was a tiny top of a tooth! She won't let me get a picture of it; every time I try or try to show someone, she sticks out her tongue. She's a bit of a stinker like that. :) I hope every tooth comes in that easily - the only signs of her teething were a super bad diaper rash a week ago, and she was so very crabby on Monday. And she drools a lot, but I think she does that anyway. So I really can't complain!

Yesterday we started her on cereal! She did pretty good; I think a lot of it went in her tummy. She didn't have a lot; maybe an ounce of milk mixed with 1/2 T of cereal. Then she started to get a little fussy, so we stopped. She did good with the spoon, and only wrinkled her nose a little bit with the new flavor. She's so short that she looks like she's way too little to be eating at her high chair! But with the tooth and the cereal, she's really turning into a big girl. :(

She has to grab everything now, so she had her own spoon to play with - that was more interesting to her than eating was!
All done!

Here are some more pictures from yesterday of her sitting! She does really good for about 30 seconds, or until she turns her head to look at something and throws herself off balance. But she loves to sit and play with her feet - it's so nice not to have to wear socks all the time anymore! She's very proud of herself that she's learning so many fun things! She's really becoming so social and funny! She interacts a lot and is so much fun to play with. My four days at home with her go by way too fast!

Easter

We had a nice Easter this year, but it was just a small group. We had both of our parents and Cory over for dinner, as no one else came home. Calvin and Mom worked during the day, so we had dinner in the evening. I made prime rib and carrot cake, and the moms brought the side dishes. I was pretty proud of myself - I never make dinner - Calvin always does.

Jocelyn did great in church - she was awake for all the music, and then slept thru the sermon! She woke up right when he was done. :) She looked so cute in her Easter dress, and I think she knew she looked fancy. She kept playing with her dress and was all smiles. They had a continental breakfast after church and she was hamming it up for everyone who stopped by our table to say hi.
So pretty!

It was a gorgeous day - so sunny and warm. But she did need a cute little sweater...

5 Months

Jocelyn turned 5 months old on Friday! She's getting to be such a big girl - she can sit by herself for a few seconds - sometimes longer if she's hunched over enough, but then she spits up because her tummy is squished. :) She still just rolls over from front to back, and doesn't mind tummy time quite as much. She still loves her Exersaucer, but gets really mad at one toy because it doesn't move, and she wants to put it in her mouth. I finally had to take it off because she would get so mad that she wouldn't even play with any of the other toys! She puts everything in her mouth and grabs at everything. She sits in her high chair now when we eat - we're going to start cereal next week, but I wanted her to get used to the chair. I think she's excited to start eating - she stares at us when we eat and watches the food wherever it goes! She hasn't slept thru the night again yet, but last night she went down at 7:15 and didn't wake up until 5:00, so I guess that almost counts. I just wasn't ready to wake up at 5:00. :) She's only waking up once/night though, so that's great. She is still such a happy baby, always smiling and talking away.

I had a really hard time getting a cute 5 month picture - she's just too curious now and wanted to know what the sign was all about. And she constantly has her hands in her mouth, and won't put them down! She was kinda grumpy on Friday, so I tried a few different times to get pictures, but finally just gave up. There are some cute ones, but I took about 50 to get to that point.

I don't think she was really picking her nose, but I thought this picture was so funny!

Apparently she did too...

I guess I've never explained that this bear that's in her pictures is one from when I was a baby and Mom and Dad took pictures of me next to it to see how big I was getting.

Not impressed

The only way I could get her to smile was to tickle her - she loves being tickled!

Long Weekend

The last weekend in March we went to Mom and Dad's for a long weekend. It was great! We went because my friend Jen was in town with her new baby, Brooklyn. So Mom and Dad had a bunch of friends over for brunch on Saturday. We had the two babies and two 2 year olds there! It was wild! Dad found our old slide that we had when we were little, and the kids loved playing on it! That occupied them for a good hour. It was so fun to see everyone and meet Brooklyn. The rest of the weekend we spent relaxing and sleeping! It was nice not to have much planned. Mom and Jocelyn were sick and I started to get sick towards the end of the weekend, so that was a bummer, but we still had a great time!

This is a funny place to sit!

Mom and Dad found a bin of some old toys they kept from when we were babies - Jocelyn loved playing with new toys!

So sleepy - Grandpa's lap is a good spot for a nap.

So happy!

We tried to get all four kids together for a picture - we should have done it right away and not so close to nap time....

Great News

Jocelyn slept thru the night last night!!!! I thought this day may never come - I could imagine her being 3 and still waking up in the middle of the night to eat. :) I really can't believe I slept thru also - after so many months of waking up so often, I thought I was used to it. But, I do have a cold and feel icky, so that's probably why. She went to bed around 7:30/7:45 and didn't wake up until 6:00! I, of course, flew out of bed in a panic when I saw it was 6:00, and went in her room to check on her (that's probably why she woke up). Then she ate and went back to sleep for another hour! I had to pump, as I'm not used to going that long without feeding her, so I didn't get to go back to sleep for long before she was up again. But I went to bed at 9:00, so that was a lot of sleep for me!

Now today, however, she's super crabby and has already taken two 40 minute naps (yesterday she only took three all day...), so maybe sleeping all night isn't a good thing. :) I hope she isn't getting sick again!
