Camping

In August we took a family camping trip, and asked some friends of ours to come along!  They're not big camping people, but thought they'd give it a try.  I haven't talked to her for a few weeks now, so maybe they didn't have as good of a time as they said they did....  I have such great memories of camping with family friends year after year growing up, so hopefully we can start some traditions like that of our own.  Yet another perk of Calvin's flexible job!

We went to Lake Wissota again this year - I like it because it's so nice and close and has a nice beach and hiking trails.  The weather was absolutely perfect - it was warm during the day, cool at night, hardly any bugs, and it didn't rain!  Not even on the last day!

Rebecca, Andrew and Jocelyn enjoying s'mores.  They do their s'mores with peanut butter cups instead of plain chocolate.  Jocelyn thought it would be an even better idea to do both!

Our site was right across from a parking lot, which was great for the boat, and for chalking!  These two spent a lot of time making masterpieces.

 Playing checkers on the iPad
Finishing up the 4th of July sparklers!
We took the boat out Saturday afternoon.  I do not like that lake for boating!  It's huge, and it's so open that it was super windy and choppy.  Andrew had to put a towel over his head so he didn't get soaked!

Tired out after a long day
And we got pulled over while we were on the boat.  First time that's ever happened!  We were going "too fast" in a no wake zone.  I think he wanted to make sure we all had life jackets, plus we were over capacity by one person and two dogs.  He was very nice though, and since we were headed back didn't give us any hassle.
Packing up on the last day
It was Ginger's last camping trip...Calvin says she's not allowed to come with anymore.  She's a whiny dog, and is getting worse in her old age.  I thought she did pretty well, but apparently not.  Sad.
